ABOUT US
The Restaurant, Food, and Beverage Services program begins with the fundamentals and principles of the art of cooking, management and production skills, and techniques. Within this pathway, students can pursue a national sanitation certification, industry certification, articulation credit, and scholarships. The courses offered involve a laboratory-based instructional setting and internship hours. Students are encouraged to participate in extended learning experiences such as career and technical student organizations (FCCLA) and other leadership or extracurricular organizations (ProStart). JHS Culinary program has an articulation agreement with our post-secondary education institutions. ServSafe and ProStart credentialing available for students meeting the required criteria. Family, Career, and Leaders of America
Mission
To promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on hte multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develope skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.
Program Emphasis
FCCLA is the only in-school student organization with the family as its central focus. FCCLA is a career and technical student organization that functions as an integral part of the Family and Consumer Sciences education curriculum and operates within the school system, and it provides opportunities for active student participation at local, state, and national levels.

Jasper High's Simulated Workplace: Viking Rock Cafe
JHS Viking Rock Cafe` is a simulated workplace in an high school setting where students experience real world , relevant, and practical skills are acquired. A student-led business with teacher facilitators. Our 21st Century commercial kitchens helps propel and prepare our culinary students for 2-4 year colleges and/or universities. Students also have an opportunity to gain ServSafe certification. Our culinary kitchen is inspected by Alabama Department of Public Health.
